Summary:
Keeping true with the legacy of the new generation of combative styles, kickboxing is another crossbred martial art that has become extremely popular. This fighting style has been crafted with techniques from Muay Thai, western boxing, and to a lesser extent, teachings such as karate or kung fu, all wrapped under one umbrella term and given the name kickboxing. Its various maneuvers include kicks, punches, blocks, elbow strikes, knee strikes, head butting, and even takedowns and throws. During competitions, however, the restrictions on moves that can be performed differ wildly from style to style, and furthermore, from promotion to promotion. Many people have a distinct idea of what kickboxing is, and they would mostly agree within their own circles of influence. However, kickboxing, as an umbrella term, leaves it open more so to the interpretation of the instructor.

How do kickboxing and Muay Thai compare?
Beyond this book, keep an eye out for my future release on kickboxing itself, where I delve deeper into its history, origins and folklore. Sign up to the mailing list to be notified when it is published.
