Summary:
Hwa Rang Do is bare-hand combat hailing from Korea. Although Korean combat received some direction around five thousand years ago, like many recognized Korean martial arts, Hwa Rang Do is a relatively new one in the big scheme of things. It’s founder, Joo Bang Lee, officially registered the discipline during the 1960s. The art itself has roots that stretch back as far as fifty-eight generations, and it is a highly philosophical discipline. It is one of the only copyrighted disciplines. One may initially consider the action of copyrighting as a form of greed; however, the Hwa Rang Do Association is well known for its humanitarian work and fund-raising for charities.
One of the burning questions answered in this martial arts book...
Joo Bang Lee is the 58th generation of what exactly?
Beyond this book, keep an eye out for my future release on Hwa Rang Do itself, where I delve deeper into its history, origins and folklore. Sign up to the mailing list to be notified when it is published.
